Not shirking, yesterday was frustrating. I got home to watch a little of ATR and saw One Big Surprise and Royal Bajan both lose by a short head. It was symptomatic of the day really. Below average week in general and time to ride it out. You can look at place / ew betting and Howard made some very interesting points in his forum post. Richard continues to provide very interesting statistical information which i hope is benefitting you all. Lets hope we turn a corner soon! only four meetings today - Towcester off due to ground issues. Very poor racing and numbers reflect that. Caution advised until we see an upturn.

Yesterday wasnt very good BUT I did go to great lengths to warn you. I advised that the spread over 4-6 horses was tight, that I was up until 2.30 trying to narrow it all down but with little success and thus I did warn you to avoid yesterday. There are 360 days of racing in a year, why people seem to have to bet on every one of them is beyond me. I do not appreciate scathing emails about how poor the rated selections have been this week when I have gone to every conceivable length to advise you not to bet. When 66/1 winners pop up, when Yorkhill and Vautour get beaten etc you just know its "one of those days!" I would understand the abusive emails if I was telling you these were all MAX bets etc, but save for banning you from betting, there is little I can do about your own self discipline and self control.
I had one bet yesterday - £100 win double on Yorkhill and Vautour (happy to send anyone proof) at 0.92/1 odds or thereabouts from memory, so I was down £100.00 - No further bets for me as I heed my own warning - i was confident Y and V would prove too strong for the others but alas i was wrong. Thats racing! I personally never make a big thing about when the ratings do well BUT I always apologise when they dont do so well. I work hard to make them the best they can be. And go to every length to warn members when i foresee a problematic day. If you're frustrated you lost money yesterday then perhaps you should heed more seriously my warnings, put your betting account away and come back to it when everythings a bit more settled. Rant over and again apologies for the poor ratings over the past few days.

Not a great day yesterday - case of hitting the bar a tad with a few hard luck stories (not a clear run, losing by a neck or less) We live and die by the Sword - Today looks awful - not so much the racing, but the number spread. 4-6 horses in some races less than 1-2 points which on my criteria is tantamount to a blanket finish. All I would ask, is that if you're following a strategy and it puts you in profit early doors, to stop there and go again another day. We had a 3/1 winner first race of the day yesterday- £20 x 3/1 = £60.00 profit. Most profit targets hit if ranging between £30-£50 a day. Upside, we had an EW winning double - such a shame simply clever just couldnt reel in Schoolboy Error.

A better day yesterday though i think Zanstra winning at 6/1 (bigger in places) was the silver lining! BBOTD won nicely as did the Win double but the treble failed to land with Bill and Barn running flat. Still, if you had put the 3 in a patent, there was a small profit with 2 x singles and a double landing! We also had quite a bit of success with the EW thief selections if backing them in the place market as advised. Keiths place selection was a non runner. Todays racing looks very tricky - there are a lot of horses very closely matched on the criteria I use so we could have a damp squib day. This is your warning! I would either skip today or bet a lot lower stakes and if in profit, STOP! I will NOT be betting myself today - more a watching brief -certainly at Sandown.

Pants yesterday! An off day for the Ratings - And whilst warnings were given to swerve the day, it still doesnt make me feel any better when i see so many fail to even give their running. What on earth was wrong with Fagan? I appreciate Mullins is at war with Nicholls to finish on top of the Trainers Championship, but even so, to pick up 1-2 in that race with those runners in the way they won, was either tactically genius or just a very poor show from the others. Fagan was being hard ridden over 5 fences from the finish and was never better than 3rd. Awful! Anyway, I wont dwell. These days do happen. Its a part of the Service none of us like. I wish we could always have 16+ winners per day but sadly, through some variables beyond our control that doesnt happen although our overall strike rate remains exceptionally healthy. One silver lining was our main competitor, Speed Ratings also had a woeful day. Good example - 1st rated Princess Tara wins for us at 3/1, speed ratings give this horse a ZERO rating.

A slightly better day for the Ratings. Still scratching my head wondering how Bandman was beaten after being hammered into 1/6sp! The other 2 Skelton runners won nicely enough in what looked on the numbers the trickier of the 3 races! That's Racing! A nice place for Foundrey Square in the Longshot section - Sadly Theatrical Star fell when making a mistake. Keith had a 6/1 winner with Black Caesar (also 1st rated) so has begun with 2 winning bets from 3 for his Place betting section and we;ll be running a P/L section for his bets weekly.
5 meetings again today but and its a big but, the racing at Catterick and Epsom is quite poor and with soft going reported, its not one to go overboard on today. So, again caution advised! If you do bet and you're £10-£20 up, my advice is to STOP there. For me, I shall not be betting today. Day off from that and I'll enjoy the sun on my bones until the cloud builds.

Not a great day yesterday frankly. Some lacklustre performances and some very "interesting" results at Windsor. At least 3 winners there showed remarkable RPRs compared to previous runs - some of the splits were very impressive and was undetectable pre race even if just working from a basic calculation of distance x weight x speed rating. One such winner was Secret Look at 9/1 - last won a race in Aug 2013! Whilst dropped along way in the handicap - that could be said about the last 15 races + it had run when only finishing in the money on one occasion and who had recorded decidedly below average Speed Rating up to that point. If anyone picked out Secret Look as the winner of that race, then fair play and well done! Anyway, we move on. We cant have it all our own way every day and losing days as well as winning days do occur.
Generally we have more winning ones than losing ones so patience and perservence is required. Remember to consider dutching or betting both to level stakes!!!

Saturday was for one member truly momentus as a lucky 63 produced a £14,000 win! Its days like that and the stories that unfold that make running this Service worthwhile. Last week was a funny old week - First 3 days were pretty strong but with the onslaught of inclement weather and abandoned meetings and non runners the final part of the week wasnt as good. Saturday looked a tricky day and the weather was also going to play a part, but to the credit of the ratings, they held up and we bagged some very nice 1st rated winners at very nice prices.
I am so pleased a member won so much money using the ratings and if Hit the Lights had won I guess the winnings would have been over 4 times that much!? Whilst wins like this have happened before, they are not a daily occurance so anyone who has joined over the past 24-36 hours, please take your time to access the ratings - remember these are not tips, but rated horses - you need to consider how to use the ratings and there is plenty of info on this service coupled with a vibrant Forum. Another poor day for the Ratings generally as warned. The weather is having a material effect on the Ratings and with early season flat often a bit of a lottery. Today looks no better. Snow throughout the middle part of the Country and Saturday's are tough anyway so if you haven't had the best of days over the last few days, can you please heed my warnings and go do something "less boring" instead? I do try my best to highlight possible bad days and don't do it through a lack of confidence in the Ratings, but from my experience of what the numbers tell me. Factor in early season flat racing on soft/heavy going and it all points to days to avoid. It will get better as the longer term members will vindicate. You have to share some responsibility and remain disciplined. With racing every day and subscription to the Service being around a £1 a day, you can all afford to miss a healthy chunk of the month and still make profit and enough to cover the following months subs.

Whilst it sounds like an excuse, I felt on balance the changing weather conditions didn't help and we also had a bit of bad luck - faller at the first when looking the winner at Cheltenham. Reasonable day for the Ratings yesterday. Newmarket being the pick of the bunch! BBOTD won as did the Win Double - both selections looking good though Sutter County made it harder than it should have been when idling slightly near the finish. Thanks to Richard for all his Stats. Amazing! Keep up the good work. In Richard's last post he said "Pressure's on!" - On review of the ratings today and the numbers I would say confidently that we wont match yesterdays 16 winner haul. Low number and around 5-6 horses in over 50% of the races within a single 1.0 of one another. Rain forecast (showers, some thundery and heavy at times) will also make it harder. If you had a good day personally yesterday I would seriously consider swearving todays selections. Stat wise, we've had a good 3 days so skipping a day seems the smart move. If you choose to ignore this friendly warning, as the ratings fail to fire in the way you want/expect, please promise me one thing - dont email me to tell me what you think of me! I can only but warn you, I cannot prevent you from betting. Thats your discipline or lack of and not my fault! DO NOT BET TODAY!

BBOTD won again and it was a devastating display after a tardy start. Not a moan as such, but I had a few emails yesterday bemoaning the ratings. We had 2 good first rated winners from the first 3 races yesterday and even betting a tenner even stakes a 9/2 and 6/4 winner less the £10 loss still produced a decent profit and if your other bet was the BBOTD you again won on that - I stressed in my preamble it was a day to avoid and I reiterated that the ratings are just that, ratings, and NOT TIPS!
You need to put in some work and you need to assess the races and the ratings and consciously decide how to use them. Telling you’ve lost £500 yesterday and then calling me a few choice names makes my heart sink, not because of the name calling, but because you didn’t heed my advice, you clearly don’t have a strategy and Im an easy target to vent your frustration. The going at Newmarket was described as good, good to soft in places, it rained almost all day and changed mid way through the meeting to Soft. Jockeys were reporting it a lot slower than soft! Instead of taking time to write me abusive emails, why not read my preamble, heed the warnings and if you’re stuck or want help, graciously ask as I am gracious enough to offer my help. The Ratings wont always perform miracles, it’s a long term plan and discipline that sees you making good profit. Betting all horses in all races is betting suicide. Please take a step back, review the races and the selections and consider your profit target. Geesh, If you were using the 90min strategy you were £150 up after 3 races. Just STOP there and go again the following day. No one is forcing you to carry on betting! If you do and lose it all, how on earth can I be the target of your frustration?

Decent BBOTD winner for us yesterday - majority of BBOTD are odds on or hovering around evens which is often a sign of the strength of the selection - We maintain a healthy strike rate with the BBOTD and a nice 7/2 winner here and there always welcome! The going changed yesterday due to the weather and there are going changes again today. More rain forecast makes this job even harder than it already is especially when it comes to early season sprints. Also, no knowing what instructions the jock has also is a mindfield. If you want proof, watch the 2.50 at Windsor - One horse was sent to win the race - Mountain Bell, the other Ballet Concerto was clearly sent out NOT to win that race. Ryan Moore deliberately held the horse almost the entire way out the back and once the winner had flown, he allowed the horse to run free knowing he'd never catch the winner. He then played out for 4th. Its races like this that highlight how difficult a job this is especially early on in the season! So in a long winded way, I'd ask you just bear with the Ratings until it all settles down a tad as even the best in the business wouldnt have picked some of the winners that went in at Windsor and Redcar!

Ok sort of day for the Ratings on Saturday. The Win treble at Aintree came good as did the win double away from Aintree and the 5 ACCA paid a decent enough profit not to mention the various multiples. We had a fifth in the National but well played anyone picking the winner. On all known ratings formula that one wasnt in the mix which just goes to show how wonderful the National is. I thought Shutthefrontdoor ran a good race but with the course going changing from good good to soft in places to Soft, heavy in places it was likely his stamina wouldnt hold out and thus it proved. My Wife has been poking fun at me all weekend as she picked the 3rd placed horse (100/1) given it shares her forename so her £5 EW paid well!!

BBOTD was back to winning form yesterday after the blip the day before and it was pleasing to see BOTH Longshot selections place to give EW backers a nice return! Longshot selections are what they are and we had El Massivo winning at 14/1 a few days or so ago. Anyone backing them shouldn't be putting more than a few ££ each time but so far I think we're nicely up in profit even backing to level stakes. EW thief again produced some good returns if putting in multiples. All in all a fair day, assessment wise. Nothing amazing, but a few ££ earned hopefully from the Ratings and especially if you followed my advice to Dutch or play BOTH selections at level stakes if odds allowed. Plenty of very decent priced 2nd rated winners. Frustrating for the 1st rated only backers (sorry!) But it does highlight the strength of the ratings overall and a timely reminder not to overlook the 2nd rated selections (often bigger in price). Sermon over!

BBOTD ran poorly yesterday but Via Volumpta held off the odds on favourite and save for Cygnet, all the EW thief selections won or placed. I think the going change didn't help us yesterday given the selections are made on one set of variables and then they markedly change. On the point of going, Ponty is described as heavy - never a good going for early season flat races. There is a unwritten rule that you should never bet on flat races when the going is described as heavy and I'd support that rule. Just tread carefully.

Official start to the Flat Season - You may have to bear with the Ratings for a few weeks as there is no telling how far forward some of these are and old speed ratings and trainer/ Course, Distance form. I would recommend Dutching or betting level stakes or even just paper trading today. Great to see the LONGSHOT bets do so well, El Massivo won at 14/1 and King Cross only lost out by a nose at 12/1 TWO massive ew punts and good profit if putting them in a double or even a Trixie paid well despite a bad run by Noble Deed.

BBOTD again drifted to around evens and with the other selection also winning to complete another win double, i think it returned around 1.8-1.9/1 giving a nice healthy profit. Some poor jockeyship cost us a few winners - Luke Morris on Sbraase for example. Ego got the better of him and Dick Johnson on Belmont never really put Alfie Spinner under any sort of pressure and seemed to hit every fence as he never got the horse in a rhythm to jump the fences trying to get in so many short strides before the fence. Quite a few of our RFCs came in though if backing that way - 2.10, 2.20, 3.25 so reasonably pleased with that, but overall another sticky day if all truth told.
