Wednesday 23rd November results

What a day! 15 winners from 30 races, 6 from 7 at Hereford and a quiet phenomenal day for the place markets! I’d have to check but I believe that was the most placed horses we’ve had in any one day (21 from 30) 7 from 8 placed at Wolverhampton and 6 from 7 placed at Wetherby.

Now before you say 2nd and 3rd’s are no use, I’m going to show you why you need to add each way or exchange place market betting to your strategy.

Firstly, 21 placed horses at evens or odds on is no strategy at all, and as you all know, placing these horses will lose money, but yesterday, we had no less than 6, 2-3’s, and whilst there were a few placed where the odds were not favourable to make a profit, have a look at the following:

She’s Lucky- placed 20/1

Rockys Treasure – placed 5/1
Ballygawley – placed 7/1

Kempton

Fivetwoeight – placed 9/1
Enfolding – placed 10/1

Spring Loaded -placed 7/1

All of the above would have delivered profit, so if you are not considering utilising the place markets you’re seriously missing a trick.

A five-time winner on the Flat (rated 102) and twice successful in Listed company, the daughter of Shantou makes her debut over hurdles in the mares’ maiden. Despite her lack of hurdling experience, the John Kiely-trained seven-year-old makes plenty of appeal and gets the vote to score under Paul Townend.

High Command 12.50 Southwell

Looked to have found his niche when getting off the mark over course and distance 12 days ago and is fancied to confirm the form with runner-up Safira Menina on 6lb worse terms.

Thello 1.20 Southwell

Course winner who shaped better than his finishing position suggests when fourth on first start for Garry Moss at Newcastle last time. Thello is expected to fare better on this slower surface.

Minella On Line 3.10 Lingfield

Didn’t jump as smoothly as he could have at Plumpton last week, but still ran out an easy winner and can follow up under a penalty.
