Rob, I’ll try and find the original post I put up to Paul Hutchison about betting on all horses over 7/1 and under 20/1 each way.

To simply answer your question about coming out on top, the answer is yes, but you need volume, three or four bets per day will not make you profit, but if you do atleast 15- 20 per day, over the long term you will have more winners than losers. This has nothing to do with racing just pure mathematics, the law of large numbers dictates that if you repeat a given scenario enough times (500 – 1000) you will win more times than you lose. And before you ask, you will have losing runs, 5, 10 maybe even 15 on the bounce, but in the long term you will be in profit.

I do this every day, my software looks for the value horses, those that have a greater chance of winning than their actual odds, not just a lucky punt on a 16/1 outsider ( although last week I had a 14/1 that ended up the 6/4 favourite)

Oh, and by the way, I watched that race at Cork, and saw Sunset Sadie sitting 9th, 4 out, nothing going, then three out it hit 100 on BF, just as it started to travel well, there was £22 on the 100, I took £10, ( I already had it backed at 7’s earlier in the day ) and watched it take off, in fact was eased off at the post.

Rob, apologies for jumping in on your conversation but the actual percentage of favourites winning is 33.54%, there is a variance to this, ore favourites win on the flat 37.24%, but overall it’s a third. Sad I know that right!

Carl, Matt has asked me to ‘take the day off’, having been working in Brussels over the last 3 days, and publishing my ratings, match ratings, updating Facebook, Irish Ratings etc, I too, am spent!
