We were a head away from snaffling the BBOTD - so close and to be honest I was disappointed with the ride - really should have won after going ahead within the last 150 yards. To be headed in the last 50 yards was very irksome. We grabbed the Win Double which was a saving grace. Today, we've been hit with the weather - both Uttoxeter and Warwick are now OFF. That leaves Lingfield and Punchestown. Im going to give a few Irish bets today following my 3 winners from 3 the other day. The Ratings aren't tried and tested though in Irish Racing so caution advised, but after the 100% the other day, its worth putting up the strongest rated in selected races

Sadly Leicester has been abandoned so we are only left with 2 meetings.
Been a bit of a Christmas hangover since we came back - plenty of placed horses and like our BBOTD - 3/1 shot, first 2 over 12 lengths clear - just bumped into one. Rating was spot on just found which ran well beyond its figures - both look destined to go to Cheltenham in March. Not sure the Heavy, tacky going to playing to many of the fancied runners and certainly a few have not handled conditions. Their RPRs being well below previous figures. May well be a day to avoid - poor AW racing and Catterick isn't the best of cards. If you bet today, small stakes advised.

I hope Santa was good to you all and that you all had a very festive few days. We're back with a 9 card extravaganza - Kempton looks the standout card to me, Fontwell and Sedgefield also look decent and Market Rasen, like Kempton could be a good stamping ground for us. The others are trickier to call. With 9 meeting and some races going off at the same time, its best to get out when in profit. Set a realistic profit target and if you hit it early stop and enjoy "watching" the rest of the meetings!
On a sour note of sorts, my youngest boy (21months) isn't too well and as a result these Ratings have been released at midnight on the 25th/26th - I wont be around during the day so watch for Non Runners and horses with 1st and 2nd preference elections. There are a few!
If anything, I may be available from 11.30-12.00 but that might be a wee bit too late. Illness can be a worrying thing in children so young, so please bear with me and I hope the ratings still work their magic! Good luck and be sensible!

Today we have 4 meetings. As I bleat on all the time, dont change your staking plans, profit targets or stop loss amounts. If you've had a good win, withdraw, enjoy, reset and go again. I would love to promote these kinds of results on a daily basis, but we must remain grounded and sensible. Well its not often I shout about using my own ratings to make a few ££ but yesterday I backed the BBOTD, Win double and the 6 Hot Picks in a £5.00 ACCA and at the prices I was able to get on a BOG basis, I turned my £5 into £2600+ after nervously watching Hidden Gold win in the 8.45 at Wolverhampton. Members know I always back the BBOTD at £50 level stakes and when I can I deploy my own 60/90 min strategy but this is the biggest win for me in one day for some time especially given I backed the BBOTD and win double separately as well. We had a good day Ratings Wise - plenty of great winners. Todays card looks awful. IF you made a few £££ yesterday DONT waste it today. Racing is decidedly average!

Better day for us yesterday with some very decent priced 1st rated winners. BBOTD continues to disappoint, but we got some nice priced Hot Picks and a few nice priced Value selections winners too. Just need the BBOTD to start firing again. Swampfire beat Boston Blue by 4 lengths last time out over CD, and whilst he was up 6lb it cannot be the reason he was beaten by BB by over 12 lengths. A 16 length swing which to be honest was more than that as Swampfire clattered the last 2 fences last time out so the margin would have been greater. All in all, a 20+length reverse just isnt right and in viewing the 2 races back to back, the tactics deployed this time round clearly didnt suit the horse and i wonder why the horse wasnt ridden more aggressively as he as last time. Grates me no end to see horses ridden poorly. Rant over!

As predicted, some of the worst racing took place yesterday and I can only assume that this week represents the Bookies Benevolent Fund week - Their Satchels must be brimming! Truly woeful racing and today isnt much better. I would seriously keep your cash in your pockets. Hendersons horses are woefully out of nick as Taylor proved yesterday - ran well below his RPR and dont get me started on Time Check - the more i see of James Doyle the less I like. Missed the start and dropped out near last - got boxed in round the turn and had to use all the petrol to get the horse in front only to get collared on the line by a 16/1 shot. This ditty isnt sour grapes, its simply pointing out that horses that are supposed to be well rated and look well in are seemingly not as forward as the numbers have you believe. 4 meetings to look at today (yay!)

This week is the worst week of race cards I've seen in all the years of doing this - truly awful and today looks terrible - with only 1 or 2 exceptions. - Do not go in big today!
BBOTD - official - ran out an easy winner but the unofficial one ran like there was something a miss given Johnson was hard at it with over a mile to travel. The Horse is far better than that and on his day would have given the main protagonists a race. One for the note book!! NH system subscribers were celebrating another winner (6/4sp). Keith had another 3/1 winner with his Dog bet! certainly been a fantastic run of form for Keith of late and at some fantastic prices too!

Low grade stuff and a lot of trainers in all probability running their horses for fitness given prize money is so low. McCoy looks to have a busy day today and could pop up with a 3 or 4 timer. A reasonable day for the Ratings yesterday - A very good day at Leicester with 5 1st rated winners from 6 and the only other race to allude us was won by the 2nd rated. Slightly less consistent at Carlise though but still a few winners on the day. Todays racing is quite frankly, poor. 3 meetings - 2 AW and 1 jumps card. Both AW meetings look full of over exposed handicap types that race each other all the time and take turns in beating one another, regardless of their rating - most are so closely matched it all depends on the ride and the luck of how the race is run and the respective positioning of the horse. Take it easy today if you decide to use the Ratings.
