Hi Pippin,

I use excel and Gruss Betting Assistant to place my bets and I usually have four to five races set-up at a time. It works for me but there are a couple of downsides.

1. Excel will trigger any bets meeting the criteria at a set time prior to the official off time as we all know this is not always the actual off time which may be later, sometimes considerably so.

2. The actual result can be fed back to excel and therefore the profit calculated but this only happens when the market closes and Betfair settle the market, often too late to stop subsequent bets being placed.

I put up with the first issue but if I want to stop once a profit target is met I still need to monitor the results and intervene to stop the software continuing. It is possible to assume the winner by monitoring the prices coming back to excel in the latter stages of the race but it can often be inaccurate particularly in tight races so I don’t do it.

Thanks Jacqueline. I use excel to monitor and fire my bets into Betfair via gruss betting assistant, the betting criteria being set in excel and I have an upper limit of 51 set. For the few we get at these prices I will probably leave it at that for now. Understand now why we had the discrepancy.

Am I missing a filter somewhere as I placed bsp’s on both Humidor and Pipers Note and recorded a MINUS 2.

Hi Pippin,

I got the 4.2 BSP on khaladi. I use Gruss Betting Assistant linked to an excel worksheet set to trigger 30 seconds from the off time providing the odds are 4+. Not sure what the odds were when the excel sheet triggered the SP bet but must of been 4 or more. As Jacqueline has said the odds were all over the place leading up to the race.
