    Hi, Chris.
I always stop at first placed horse.
My staking plan is 2.5% of bank x 1.06 to cover Betfair commission.
If loser stake becomes original target PLUS losses, then times 1.06.
It is a complete loss recovery plan and the stakes can escalate very quickly. which is why I now also stop betting after 4 losers – normally about 40% of bank is lost by that point.
I am in the process of recovering a 4-loser deficit at the moment, it takes over 2 weeks to get back to previous level.
So be warned! You may want to put your own staking plan in place to alleviate the huge losses that can occur with my plan

    Good News or not???
    I don’t know
Anyway, hospital appointment for today is cancelled. Will be sometime on Wednesday next.
As we have to go to same hospital for 10am Tuesday, it will mean two taxi journeys each day, costing £24.
Good job horses are paying their way!
Today, my selections will be at Newmarket, a track I know well and did enjoy visiting (but those days are now behind me and stored in my memory bank).
    Post selections later

Don’t need to as Brasted finished second. Now closing all bookie accounts for the day in case I get tempted to ‘have a flutter’

Betfair appears to have crashed – at least I am unable to get anything at all.
    Pippin,
I back after previous result is known, otherwise I wouldn’t know what bet to place.
I back the shortest-priced of Matts selections PROVIDED that the place price is between 1.60 and 4.00, which is why I didn’t support first race winner.
it’s place price was 1.44 when I looked so I supported Captain Sue, which unfortunately finished third and out of the money in the Place market. You could have backed Sue to finish in first 3 but again the odds were too short when I looked.
I have backed Brasted but don’t know if I will be able to get Betfair back for future races

Sorry, Captain Sue is priced at 2.66 to finish in first 2

My Placed System bets are at Chelmsford today:
1.30 Captain Sue (to be placed in first 2 @ 2.38)
2.00 Brasted (current place odds 2.38)
    2.30 NO QUALIFIERS
    3.00 Banditry (currently 2.06)
    3.30 Forecaster (currently 1.77)
    4.00 Golden Amber (currently 2.70 – or 2.06 for 4 places)
    4.30 Guanbara Bay (currently 2.08)
    5.00 Summersault (currently 1.61)

    Good Luck!

    Sorry, Pippin.
I did say yesterday that I had hospital appointment at 11.30 today and, as Ratings were not published before I went, I had to miss racing today.
In fact I got back from hospital just in time to back Fingal’s Cave for a place – so got out with a profit.
I am also at the hospital on Friday and next Tuesday, so be pre-warned that I may not be able to submit my selections.
But if you follow Matts ratings in the same way that I do, you should have no difficulty in finding your own horses.
I always concentrate on just one meeting (the principal one)per day as the best horses will be sent there for the greater prize money.
Just my method, but you could take all races from the beginning of the day. I would think that the results would be similar. Just remember SAW or Stop at 4 losers for safety

    Hi, Pippin
To clarify which rated horse to back.
The range within which I back a horse to place is 1.60 to 4.00 in the Betfair Place market.
Yesterday, Matt’s 2 horses in the first race were both within that range (Imperial City @ 2.10 and Accladora @ 2.88).
My selection should, therefore, have been Imperial City – but I backed Accladora.
The only reason I can think of for my error was that, with my targets getting quite high, I erred on the side of the lower stake being required to attain that target by backing the slightly higher-priced horse.
I won’t be doing that again!

Easy to do on line, Elisabeth. Just put each score against each match, go to multiple bets and select trebles. Bet 365 will do the rest

One last point about the football system.
The reason for choosing those scores is that they are the most usual results, in fact just over 30% of English games finish on one of them (1-1 11%, 1-0 10%, 2-1 9%)
But before you get carried away this means that, ON AVERAGE, getting 3 together happens just about 10% of the time – or 1 day in 10. At 27 bets each day, you will have staked 270 points in 10 days. At an AVERAGE price of 6.50 you will just about cover your expenditure. But some matches are priced considerably lower than this.
As I said earlier, I have tried it and couldn’t make it pay. But don’t let me stop you if you want to give it a go.

    Paul, Elisabeth
This football idea is one I used many years ago and it is not really successful in the long run unless you choose your matches very carefully.
A small error in your maths, Paul.
Three scores in three games requires 27 bets to cover, certainly not 9.
3 scores in 2 games would need 9 bets.
    Simple Maths
    3 x 3 = 9,
    3 x 3 x 3 = 27

Sad day for my Place System today.
I stopped after 4 losers as that had taken out most of my original stake.
But what made it worse was that if I had followed my previous plan of backing the rated horse with the shortest price within the pre-set limits I would have backed Imperial City in the first @ 2.10 and finished the day with a first-race winner.
The system didn’t fail me – I FAILED THE SYSTEM!!
Never mind -a restart tomorrow with reduced target.
    The losses will be recovered

My Place selections for Leicester today are:
    1.40 Accladora
    2.10 Gala Princess
    2.40 Cockney Island
    3.15 Beach Bar
    3.45 Secret Agent
    4.20 Moderah
4.50 Diptych (a bit tongue-in-cheek this one as Bataka is non-runner). Hope don’t get this far!
    5.20 Doctor Bong

    Good Luck!
May be a problem tomorrow as Hospital Appointment is at 11.30, awkward time!
