    Sad news about Freddie Tylicki.
Looks like he will be paralysed from the waist down after horrific fall.

Let’s hope better news arrives over the next few weeks

Wow! What a day at Doncaster today!
My Place picks are (with comments)
12.10 Red Gunner for 3 places – (don’t normally like to back unraced, but if Matt knows something, that’s good enough for me!)
12.40 Just An Idea for 4 places if price good enough
1.15 Gheedaa also for 4 places
1.50 George Bowen for 5 places
2.25 Growl for 2 places, two take-outs, looks nailed on for top 2
    3.00 Entsar for 4 places
3.35 Cape Cova for 5 places
4.05 Twin Appeal for 5 places

Really looking forward to today’s racing!

    Pippin,
    Yesterday, I backed
Run Bob Run (Fontwell 1.00) 3 places, finished 7th
Kings Eclipse (Hexham 1.10) 3 places, finished 9th but such a big price only a small stake
Predict A Riot (Warwick 1.25) Win only, finished LAST of three
Willy Boy (Hexham 1.45) 2 places, finished 3rd of 4
Fortunately, because of Kings Eclipse, I lost only around 5 times my target (as opposed to the 10 ‘targets’ lost on 24th October, which I am still recovering)

    Thanks, Pippin.
I only decide which of Matt’s ratings gives the best chance of a place – in my opinion only, of course.
I normally follow the principal meeting of the day as shown in the Daily Mail.
This is normally the meeting with the highest total prize money, but today there is a discrepancy.
The DM lists Wincanton as the principal meeting, but Doncaster has £268,000 over 8 races (£33,000 average)
whilst Wincanton has £201,000 over 7 races (£29,000 average)
Coupled with the small fields at the jumps track, I shall be selecting my system horses from Doncaster.
Should be more fun as well!

Sorry, losing day today on Place System.
So many non-runners lately it hardly seems worth doing it.
But tomorrow is another day AND a Saturday.
    Let’s see what turns up

    Place System
Have had to include other tracks again today due to small fields at Warwick.
Several of these will need to be backed to finish in the first 2.
    Warwick 12.50 Tyrell
    Fontwell 1.00 Run Bob Run
    Hexham 1.10 Kings Eclipse
    Warwick 1.25 Predict A Riot
    Hexham 1.45 Willy Boy
    Warwick 3.45 Ballydague Lady
    Warwick 4.15 Melangerie
    Have a good day!

Patsys Castle makes it a winning first race again.
In case you are wondering, I DO have a nephew named David Bass but he is almost 50 years old and the jockey is no relation at all.
I almost never follow him as he always seems to let me down, but not today!

    Disappointing racing today.
I was intending to select all of my Place System horses from Newbury, the principal meeting, but have had to include 3 others, 1 from Musselburgh and 2 from Chelmsford.
Runner numbers not enough in others.
    Here we go
    Newbury 1.30 Patsys Castle
    Musselburgh 1.50 Theligny
    Newbury 2.00 Ericht
Newbury 3.45 Peter The Mayo Man (2 places here)
    Newbury 4.15 Burbank
    Chelmsford 4.40 No Not Again
    Chelmsford 6.25 Brigliadoro
    Fingers crossed

Thanks to all for your good wishes. We are staying positive, there is too much in the world to be happy about for us to get despondent.

    12.50 Crowned Eagle
    1.20 Big Challenge
    1.55 Maarek
2.30 Grandads World (obviously couldn’t miss that one!)
    3.00 Orient Class
    3.30 Jacob’s Pillow
    4.00 Bahamian C (4 places this race)

    Good Luck

    Bad news from hosp. yesterday.
Wife survived breast cancer over 20 years ago, but cancer has returned in lymph nodes. Lymphodema I think it is called. Initial treatment is by tablets in attempt to arrest the disease and possibly shrink the tumours.
Consultant APPEARS confident, but who knows? She will be 84 in January, so everything has to be taken in our stride.
We shall remain upbeat and happy for as long as we are given.
Stay young and cheerful as long as you can. Retirement isn’t as wonderful as it is painted!
    Selections later – at Nottingham

Today wife has hosp. appt at 10am, so selections will be late (if I get chance to sort them out at all). Will be at Exeter, so have a go yourselves if I can’t make it.

Cliffhanger non-runner yesterday, but Next Challenge finished third @ 1.7 to land the pot for the day.
Terrible crash later at Kempton, 2 jockeys badly injured.
Understand Jim Crowley has been released to his family, but Freddie Tylicki remains in intensive care.
Makes you realise what these lads put themselves through basically for our enjoyment.
    Get well soon, lads

But the selections are here for all of you. Just hope one of first 3 is successful.
