But, my other systems all showed good early profits
PRS place system Race1 Cry Fury wins
AvB Race1 Oh This Is Us beats Folkswood
First Rated Race2 Towering wins after Yulong Warrior loss
Second Rated Race1 Treasuring wins
(I include Irish races in these last 2 systems)
First Rated £10 first selection, increasing by £2 steps till win (profit)
Second Rated £5 first selection, increasing by £1 steps
I ignore any third rated for these systems.
Yesterday I was finished at 1.45 (except for AvB 3.10pm)
Wins £61.25 to my small stakes after double that in AvB losses on Friday
I will keep going, sorry to lose Robert and, possibly, Elisabeth
Especially following Stan et al
But life goes on (just hope mine has a long time to run (80th birthday next month) Ha, haIan BassMemberAnother sad day for 7-20 players.
I found 45 runners, results show 11 places and NO Winners.
Another (and my last) losing day on this oneIan BassMemberChris
What are you doing with 3rd Rated horses?Ian BassMemberChris
I somehow managed to miss Snazzy Jazzy (maybe the time I put it on it was below 7.00) or maybe I just stooped!
I backed 23 runners with the 1 winner ( I didn’t do the 3-runner race) and 6 places, losing around 12 points
Maybe it is all about the times bets are placed. I try to get on as soon as I have updated my spreadsheet (or maybe it is Paddy Power’s tight prices!)Ian BassMemberSimilar to your experience, Michael
A v B is not a good idea in the long run, too much like a lottery (which I have never done!)
Certainly it sounds easier than selecting the winner and, on good days, shows good profits.
But yesterday, with full recovery, it was disastrous with stakes climbing rapidly to the complete loss of the bank.
Agree just follow the ratings with sensible staking system (or even level stakes) SAW or SAP (stop at profit).
One of my original strategies was to follow 1st rated and 2nd rated as separate systems with smaller stakes on 2nd rated. This seemed to work well, but full recovery is fatal. Lvel stakes or ‘stepped’ staking seems to be the sensible way to work.Ian BassMemberChris
I wish I was sharing your profits on the 7-20 system!
My last 100 selections have shown 8 winners, 28 places and 64 losers.
At level stakes ew a loss of around 23 points
Haven’t calculated place only results, maybe that would be better.
Will continue to seek that elusive profitIan BassMemberHave a great hol, Matt
Ian BassMemberHas anyone noticed (I am sure that you have as you are able to get on here much more often than I) that Betfair Sportsbook is now taking place only bets and for small stakes. So much easier than going through all the steps to get small bets on Exchange. Prices may not be quite as good but I am not one for ‘paper trading’ and appreciate not losing too much whilst trialling new directions. Must be Paddy Power influence at work!
Ian BassMemberJust a point on Jaymac ‘new’ system.
Some of our subscribers seem to think that the large price bets only come into play when applied to winning horse.
However, most losing horses will, at some point, cross the long odds barriers and will be placed by Betfair as the ‘keep’ button requests.
I followed a day recently where 30 horses were indicated. At 3 bets per horse that made 90 bets. 89 were activated and all lost, making a loss of 89 points.
Fortunately, I only used 10p points and finished up losing £8.90. If I had backed at the Betfair ‘minimum’ I would have lost £178.00.
Agreed just 1 winner which crossed the 50 and 100 barrier would have made the day a profitable one and, if the 500 bet had been applied, a VERY profitable day.
But be warned the losses will build up quickly if a few winless days are experienced.
For me the system is a no-go as it takes me too long to implement. But good luck to those of you who have the time to work it all outIan BassMemberOops Sorry Posted in wrong area!
Ian BassMemberJust letting you all know that we are still here.
Not able to get to horses very much but still follow Pippins Places and Matts 1st rated when I can.
Wife poorly, but still smiling.
Jacqueline, are you going to start up your ratings from last year, which we signed off at end of Sept with message ‘back in May’?
I have forgotten (as you do at my time of life) how we came to the ratings but I know it was a profitable season.
Please let us know how it works again – unless it has been archived!Rgds to all
Ian BassMemberHad a feeling Huntingdon might go today.
Doris is buffeting our block of flats, day to stay indoors (fetched paper at 6am!)Ian BassMemberCarl,
Just following up on Tom’s post:-
Carl I place a pre match double chance bet of Ars or BM – currently at 1/5 odds where £50 will return £60. When match starts I then place a £50 draw bet which currently would return £230! I usually find that the draw odds fall as soon as the match starts but even so can produce a good result! The min return will be £10 profit. If you leave the in-play bet until there is a score the draw odds should increase but I prefer to bet asap after kick-off.Ian BassMemberCarl & Tom
I have been away from site most of this week, but have been catching up today.
I am not sure your Maths on the football works out though.
Take this scenario:
I start with £100 in my grubby little hand
I back Home or Away @1/5 with £50 to return £60
I then back Draw @3/1 with my last £50 – I now have no money for beer left in my sweaty hand.
The game finishes in Home (or Away) win I pick up my £60. But I started with £100. I have just given the bookie £40 on my ‘dead cert’
The only way I can make a profit is for the match to finish as a draw when I pick up £200.Try it with real money and a real bookmaker. Just see who is laughing at the end of the evening!!
Ian BassMemberQuick note to let you all know that we are still around!
Read most postings every day, play the horses when possible
This week we have appts at:
Doctor Monday
Hospice Wednesday
Oncologist Friday
So will probably only be playing three days this week.
Good luck to all of you, keep up the interesting ForumRegards
