Totally understand your reasons. I look forward to some dry weather, and a return to the NAPs and your usual success. Thanks.

Going to Aintree on Sat and will be there to see the National but not sure who to back yet. Anyone got a strong fancy?

Main reasion for going is to watch my horse, Straw Fan Jack, run in the 2.25 Betway Novice Hurdle. He’s up against some tough opposition as it is a grade 1 race, so he is a big 33/1, 40/1 with some but he’s in good form and deserves the opportunity. Hoping for a good run.

Thanks for the update. I am guessing Tasman Bay in the 5.45 is due to King Vegas odds and Tasman seems to be the only viable alternative to King Vega, I am in the syndicate that runs Vega and I know they expect a good run and the race is prep for the 2000 Guineas.
So Taman Bay may not be a good bet even though he has come in so much.

Off to see some ‘live’ racing at Aintree tomorrow. My horse Straw Fan jack is running in the 11.45 and will run better than his current 11/1 odds I believe. With only 6 runners just the 2 places unfortunately but at those odds I think he’s good value for a small e/w. He jumps well normally and has a nice long stride so the long run in at Aintree will suit, just as the one at Ascot did when he was unlucky to be 2nd by a head [see the replay of the finish]. Richard Johnson will drive him home so hoping my day at the races gets off to a good start.

Hi Richard, I did have a small e/w bet. Thanks for telling me where to find the posts earlier in the week. An amazing price.

where does one find NAP and EYECATCHERS? The headings I see when I login are :- Todays Ratings / SA RACING / Forum / Strategies / Blog / Results / Testimonials and Support, nothing on those others items. How do you locate them?

On Sat I mentioned my horse ‘Straw Fan Jack’ had an e/w chance at Ascot. Despite skidding on landing 2 out he did, as predicted, like the long straight run in and was 2nd to the fav by a head.
Today my other horse, ‘Cotton End’ runs in the 3.55 at Hereford. Like the yard she has been in great form since 1st Sept winning 3 of her last 4 races, the last at Hereford. First choice pick by the system today, fav at 11/4, so a sure thing then? I’m not so optimistic.

She is up 11 pounds for her last win at Hereford 3 weeks ago. She could defy that hike but the ground is going to be against her. This is her last run before I give her a winter break as she is a good ground horse. With showers due, the current soft may get worse as it cuts up. The reason I am still running her is 8 in the race and prize money down to 8th. Cotton may well defy the weight and ground and win me some place prize money but at 11/4 in the betting markey=t, this is going to be a no bet race for me. Just a word of caution.

My horse ‘Straw Fan Jack’ runs in the 12.47 at Ascot. Odd drifted to 10/1. Good to soft will be OK for him, he should like the straight run in as he has a good long stride and trainer been in good form with 5 wins out of last 7 runs. One of those was Jack. Don’t splash the cash but he may be worth a small e/w at those odds, fingers crossed.

A day at Bangor races tomorrow which I look forward too. My horse ‘Cotton End’ runs in the 1.30 mares hurdle in what looks an open race so hopefully a good chance she will run well. Her 2nd race this term and stepped her up in distance, so aim is to race midfield until 3 or 4 furlongs out. At Stratford she got lit up when in the parade ring as next to bell when it rang for jockeys to mount. Richard Johnson had difficulty getting her to relax after that but she still managed 3rd. As Richard is injured got Sean Houlihan on her this time with a 3lb weight off benefit so she is bottom weight, a stone less than the fav. Be disappointing if she isn’t placed but fingers crossed for a win at 6/1.

went for a Tote tricast with 5 horses, Highland Chief,Hypothetical, Tritonic, plus added Aquitted and Global Storm. 60lines x 30p, so a small £18 bet netted £600.

    Richard,
Thanks for the information. Frustrating as I had a horse running at Ludlow tomorrow and another due to run at Hereford next Tuesday. Been waiting for better ground and now it is here racing is cancelled for 6 weeks.

Personally I think ‘behind closed doors’ was the right policy as it protected the industry and the people in it, kept employment open for jockeys, stable staff, racecourse employees etc. A full shut down does the opposite. It takes weeks to get a horse ready for a specific race and this decision is not good for the racing industry, period. An over reaction by the BHA.
