ParticipantThanks Carl. I like the recovery method in the place market due to the high hit rate. I’m not sure I’ve got the stomach to go for WIN bets with recovery due to the unreliability of favourites in horse racing.

ParticipantHi Everybody,
I recently signed up on the trial offer and have signed up previously. The time before I didn’t really take the ti e to learn what TPS could offer but I’m asking more of an effort now.
I would appreciate if any of you could give me some clarification on the various members tips shared.
There are clearly quite a few members (Robert, Carl, Stan et al) who ‘know’ their horses and post reliable recommendations. Whilst guidance is given sometimes by these people (ie win or place bet) sometimes the horses are just posted. When In look at some of the odds for these in the place market for example, they are very low (around 1.30 to 1.40) mark. Where no guidance is given I would assume these are WIN tips?
To make it easier for somebody as thick as myself, could someone summarise what each individual puts up, something like this:
– Robert Eastabrook: Place market
– Carl: WIN
– Stan: Win OR placeI hope that makes sense

ParticipantAs I bow out of TPS, I thought I’d make a final post to voice my views on my very limited time here.
Firstly, it is a great site. Lots of friendly and enthusiastic punters, both experienced and some not so. It has a great community spirit and everybody wants to help others make money. That is good.
Matt ratings are generally excellent and he has made people alot of money.
Generally, I think it is worth the monthly subscription.
However, there are always butts, and a few concerns which I raise below:
Having been a member for a short time, I was surprised to see the plethora of new services being launched on tops of TPS – the VIP club, Keith’s Place Selections, some new service Matt may run called System Bets. To me, TPS should be about selecting the very best bets for its paying members, and introducing new services can, I feel, only discredit TPS. I’m not sure somebody paying £75 a month for the VIP club would be too pleased if similiar selections were included in the TPS offering. There’s a conflict of interest there which doesn’t sit well with me.
I’d also advise caution about people on this website putting forward their tips, be it horses or football, unless you can back it up with clear long term track records..It’s abundantly clear some people have absolutely no strategy as to picking say football matches (I can’t comment on the horses as I’m very inexperienced myself) – betting first matches of the season or cup matches, where quite often many teams put out second string squads, is akin to betting suicide – even if some of these tips are successful, you should never bet unless the fundamentals (i.e strategy) are in place. I have been paper trading football selections for over a year and my strike rate is around 75 to 80%. I spend over £50 a month on advanced statistical analysis for football matches (it doesn’t suggest tips it just give me raw data). Typically one of the two tips I posted on this site let me down on Saturday (ironically I didn’t bet on that tip due to the inplay stats so still made a good profit that day on the other selection), but yesterday I selected 19 different bets from 12 matches and got all 19 correct. Yet I still haven’t put down proper money until I’m totally satisfied with the strategy I am developing. Therefore I cringe when I see people putting out their tips when I can guarantee that if I asked them for five reasons why they have selected that pick that would struggle to find two reasons.
The reason I say this is because people will simply see somebody suggesting a great strategy, a glorious week couple of weeks of profits, then 4 weeks later see their banks bust. And like flocks of sheep, many people follow the herd. Be careful people, learn your craft, take your time. And if you cannot ‘master the trade’ then look to those you can trust.
I’m leaving TPS not because I think its a bad service, but because understanding horses won’t take months but years, and I don’t want to be one of the bettors who is a jack of all trades, master of none.
Good luck to everybody.

ParticipantAnnoyed at Kashima. I should have told people to check the inplay stats as Kashima only had 1 shot on goal in the first 25 minutes so I didn’t bother with this.
Kashiwa was easy and I went in at half time on over 1.5 for odds of 2.25.
Beauty about these type of bets is you can see how a match is going before diving in.
I will not be posting anymore though.
Good luck all.

ParticipantLydon – I know football I don’t know horses!

ParticipantRight, I’m reluctant to do this but everyone can follow at his/her peril.
I’m about to leave TPS so I hope to give some of you a goodbye present. Two early football matches this morning in Japan J-League:
– Kashima v Sendai: Over 1.5 goals Kick off 1030am
– Kashiwa v Yokohama Over 1.5 goals Kick off 11am
Bet in play after around 25 minutes. If still 0-0 odds should be around 1.50. If 1-0 leave it. Bet365 best for these.
I’m currently running at a strike rate of 85-90% for these types of bets.
Any more for later I’ll let you know.

ParticipantThis is non-horse related, but as a big backer of football matches, and one I try not to say modestly I do well at, I would never bet on the opening day of the season. There is no way to quantify the stats without any matches being played. Far better to wait until 5/6 matches before going in. I know Elisabeth won tonight but I’d be cautious. Look at Fulham’s win tonight against the red-hot title faviroutes!
The Nordic and Asian leagues, well into mid-season, are your better bets at this stage.

ParticipantChristopher / Richard,
Is it possible to send me your private email address to my email address as I’d like to ask you a few quick questions if that wouldn’t be too inconvenient.
My email address is: drd2341@gmail.com

ParticipantI have been a member of TPS for nearly two months now. I think it is a great resource and one worth every penny.
Now, I posted a similar topic a few weeks back but having looked at the ratings service a bit more I’m now going to revisit the topic of time spent making selections.
Now, I’m aware people use a variety of strategies to use Matt’s ratings to come to their own conclusions. Personally, I use a website which I won;t mention as I’m not looking to plug something. Suffice to say it is excellent and really goes into the analytical detail that even a novice like me can understand. Often, their selections don’t mirror Matt’s.
What I’m currently doing is going through Matt’s first rated selections, and then comparing these with the aforementioned website. The only problem is this is very time consuming. But, I think if you are serious abut making money its important to put the time and effort in.
However I want to try and avoid spending a couple of hours each day doing this. I bet and trade football matches as well, and am very good at that but that is only because I thoroughly research teams/matches. Combined with the horses, I am now spending a vast amount of time on my laptop when I would rather be doing more recreational matters.
My thoughts were to perhaps focus on the following:
– Chris Eillis’ daily selections
– Subscribe to Premium Bets as they seem to have performed well.
– Subscribe to the NAP or SAW service
This way, my focus would be more on quality rather than quantity, thus saving time. The only downside would be potentially missing out on some excellent profit with Matt’s good track record.
Your thoughts appreciated.

ParticipantThe reason I don’t post here is I’m a novice and slowly learning things. Posts from you, Rob etc are much appreciated

ParticipantI’ve received details of Keith selection service for a monthly subscription of £25.
I only recently signed up to TPS so never followed Keith’s selections in previous months. I understand from Matt’s email and others that Keith has got a good skill for selecting good priced placed horses.
£25 a month for a reliable service seems fair to me.
Any others have a different opinion?
Mark Walden
ParticipantHas the notification been sent out for Keith place selections? I put my name down for it but thus far not heard anything
Mark Walden
ParticipantFurther to Chris’ message I too am interested in the place service.
Mark Walden
Participant15 years in the game is reassuring.
Of course I’m not looking to become wealthy but a regular modest steady income would be wonderful.
Keep up the good work.
