MemberCarl I know what you mean. Hindsight an all that.
I guess it’s a personal preference too.
Personally I think I might be inclined to go with the original selection found earlier in the day and stick with that. Might be worth monitoring how 1st vs 2nd rated selections fair too – if more 2nd rated perform better, then we could change to that preference. Might help with the odds & recovery staking too.June 5, 2017 at 3:44 pm #20313Dean Harris
MemberKeith, check out my post in the General Chat topic too. This will help with calculating the staking.
Hi Neil, haven’t got anything yet mate.

ParticipantDean its interesting you noted the higher odds one often wins ,def make recovery much more palatable, as for switching horses at the last minute my thoughts go like this .every time you do it and win you will pat yourself on the back for being so clever ,every time you choose not to change and you win you will congratulate yourself for you wisdom and Patience
And every time you loose you will kick yourself .lolJune 5, 2017 at 3:21 pm #20307Neil Munro

MemberHi Pippin, please see my reply. Neil was right with selecting Alcala to beat Such a Legend, but due to the late withdrawal of Such a Legend, AvB became a choice between 1st and 2nd rated. In this case, Alcala won the bet despite the change in selection, but on other occasions my strategy is to choose the 1st rated over the 2nd rated – maybe this should be 2nd over 1st instead???
Hi Keith, welcome to the group and to the AvB discussion. The strategy is based on loss recovery.
At some point before the racing starts, either myself, Carl or Neil will provide a list of the qualifying races/selections. Using this list, we then focus a profit target bet on the selection as named to beat the other.
Let us know if you would like to know the calculations to use.June 5, 2017 at 3:15 pm #20303Carl
ParticipantKieth its blue for back pink for lay BUT I thibk you should spend some time looking round bet fair also try YouTube for some how to use betfair vids
You could loose a lot of money VERY quickly if you get it wrong ,familiarize yourself before you chuck any money in .June 5, 2017 at 3:13 pm #20302Dean Harris
MemberWell done Neil.
However I noticed something on the first AvB race that I had never seen before – not only did the number of runners reduce from 5 to 2, but this affected the AvB because both remaining runners were 1st and 2nd rated and these became the AvB selections, with the original being 2nd rated and the change in selection becoming the 1st rated.
Now here is the dilemma – if we are betting close to the off and the AvB selections have changed, do we stick with the original (if not 1st rated) or, possibly as in this case, go to the 1st rated?
Looking at the race, we could see that the 2nd rated won and this was the original selection – so is it best to stick to the original selection because of this?
What if the 1st rated went onto win?
The 2nd race didn’t win so we’d now be onto the 3rd.Any input on this would be appreciated as it will help in future.
I am also noticing that when going through the cards, more often than not, the higher odds AvB selection often beats the lower odds selection (this is without using the TPS or DM selections only).
Therefore I am wondering if it’s possible to loss recovery on the first 5 races where the unfancied of the 2 runners is at odds between 2 and 2.5 (it’ll definitely help with the staking because it avoids the odds on prices for the loss recovery).June 5, 2017 at 3:03 pm #20299Pippin
ParticipantHi Neil, were you a bit premature??? The 1st selection was. 2 horse race with no mention of Such A Legend????

MemberCarl. thanks v much. Apologies for being completely dim but I have never used the exchange before! I have managed to click on AvB (quite a feat for me)! I am now faced with a page which I do not understand at all. If I am looking at 4.00pm at Thirsk and wanting to back Kenstone v Green H what do I actually do. I am sorry for asking but it is like reading a foreign language. I appreciate your help and patience. Keith

MemberI’ve just come up with an idea. The best way to market something when it’s ready is if it’s been proven, so why don’t I use you guys as guinea pigs??? Sorry I meant Beta Testers…haha
Carl, Elisabeth, please send me an email to deanharris69@hotmail.com and I’ll reply with the strategy.
I’ll take THREE more people to try it out for free – first come first served.June 5, 2017 at 2:53 pm #20294Elisabeth
MemberDean, I’d be interested in your roulette system. (Have tried many different methods in past)
Admittedly Blackjack is my game of the moment–small stakes.June 5, 2017 at 2:52 pm #20293Dean Harris
MemberThanks Carl.
I haven’t put anything into a format yet, but I’ve been playing about with roulette just now and it still seems to work. As I’m just making sure it works I use small 10p bets on Betfair and just made 23pts (£2.30). I know it’s not much but I am looking to use it as a bank builder and increase the stakes when reaching a certain new level each time.
I’ll get something put together as soon as I can and then figure out how to market it. The good thing is what I do can be used anywhere in the world so it could be massive – and I have 3 possible winning strategies that can be used individually or all together (although it’s quite mindblowing when using all 3).
I’ll keep you posted.June 5, 2017 at 2:51 pm #20292Neil Munro
ParticipantKeith,
Once on Betfair click on the exchange which is found at the top of the page once on exchange click on horse racing Today’s Card’s then click the race you want and it will expand to show the AvB market.
