Our BBOTD couldnt quite live with the winner in the end and was disappointedly the one to let us down given both HOT PICKS won at very decent prices 2/1 and 5/2 and even our 1 VALUE bet also hosed up, Allez Encore when the other was declared a non runner. So even if putting all 4 in a multiple, a decent profit was made with the 3 from4 winning. We are though struggling on the AW at the moment. Strike rate isnt as good as it was even a month ago, so Im looking at / monitoring closely this to double check a few things. Sometimes its just a blip and the results will pick up, but if choosing the AW selections, just be mindful. If you compare the winners at Wincanton and Bangor, there is a steep drop, so tread carefully whilst we either ride out the blip or I undertake a full analysis and undertake some necessary tweaks!

what a shame Less Time let us down for the clean sweep again yesterday! The BBOTD won as expected and the win double and Hot Pick also obliged minus Less Time who was ridden very strangely and should have absolutely hosed up with ideal conditions. Still even with the 1 losing, the multiples still paid a decent profit. Thanks for all the emails. As commented on the Forum, what was going on at Lingfield? Well I mentioned in my intro yesterday that it could go one of 2 ways. Sadly as Neil pointed out we had 9 placed efforts from 12 races yesterday and Burtons Well looked good to win till falling when challenging. Im not sure if Silsol was ridden to lose but to be 8lb better off than the winner and still lose seems like a Nicholls special to me. He now goes to Cheltenham - i suspect he will leave that form way way behind! Sire De Grugy lost that race a year ago again long odds on and then went on to win at Cheltenham...! And people say Racing isnt bent....!

sadly we've lost Warwick to the weather so we're left with a Jumps card at Exeter and 2 AW meetings. I was going to issue a blip day warning as these can occur from time to time - its where 4-5 selection in the majority of races are so closely matched its virtually impossible to split them. I do my best on such occasions but it can lead to a frustrating day results wise. i always suggest a No bet day regardless of what the results end up like. With Warwick off and us having enjoyed a really good week, i think its a day off all round and come back firing tomorrow. i will of course put up todays ratings, but I cannot advise more strongly to take a day off. Denis makes a good point on the forum about flat spots which every member should heed. Whilst I do everything I can to produce consistent ratings and thus results, we do suffer the odd bad run - its just the nature of the beast. Therefore its imperative that staking plans, profit targets etc are not changed. Denis himself is testament to the discipline needed - he's been a member from the very first month and sticks to his profit target of £20 a day stopping once achieved - He also plays the SAW selections as well. Denis has made a tidy profit consistently throughout his tenure - riding out the flat spots and building his bank through the better times. Keeping profit targets but also setting loss limits is very important. Its not my intention to be a killjoy, but as we near our 3rd Year Anniversary, its those that have targets and stick to them that make the profit and who stick with this Service knowing that over the long term it can make you a decent profit - this isnt a get rich quick scheme or a route to giving up your day job etc. But used well and correctly as recent results have shown it can make you a few ££ here and there to spend on your loved ones etc.

Good morning - Shame Avispa's jockey forgot how to ride yesterday - with the race at his mercy he decides to keep the horse idling and not to push on and was out done when it turned into a sprint over the final fence or 2. Its criminal really - that horse should have urinated up so to speak! So clear on the figures it was untrue. Even One Track Minds jockey realised the potential danger of "coasting" and pushed his mount out to fend off the 50/1 challenger. ~No Loose Changes jockey was guilty of the same against Double Bank. Even our BBOTD was ridden wide throughout and was never asked to put his stamina to use. Sometimes right selection,but poor rides cost us dearly. In saying that though we had some great winners early doors with the ratings and 2 from 3 in the Values at 9/2 and 7/1 sp's only Luke Hill failing to find anything for pressure. Moan over, lets crack on.

Despite the traumatic start to my Wednesday, we didn't have a bad day for the Ratings overall. Plenty of decent priced winners/placed horses and even SAW grabbed a 3 from 3. We finished very strongly at Kempton with 3 nice priced winners in the final 3 races - hats off to the Jock on New Leyf, who came flying from the back to snatch the win by a shd. 7/1sp, but was 9/1 only 10 or so minutes before the off. Certainly a day to forget yesterday - some extremely strange results and puzzling rides. My loathing of Spencer was magnified as he gave our BBOTD a horrendous ride. Out wide the whole time, no thought of trying to give the horse cover or push to the front and again got going far far too late - Our 2nd Rated won it, but he was well positioned throughout and coming off the bend was pushed into contention, Spencer was wide off the bend and was caught napping. Not saying it would have won, but certainly was worth better than 4th - He really is a poor AW rider in my opinion. Anyways, a great day to be a bookie with lots of unfancied horses trotting up by 5+ lengths....!
